The  apartment is  located on Cour Damoye, which is a private pedestrian passage entered from Place de la Bastille.  Cour Damoye contains several adjacent buildings, each designated by its "escalier" (staircase). It is flooded with light from two skylights. There is no elevator but the stairs are "user friendly" and well-lighted. The street and the building are in a historically protected area, and major renovation work was completed within the last few years.
