The  apartment is  located on Cour Damoye, which is a private pedestrian "passage" running between 12 Place de la Bastille in the front and 12 Rue Daval in the back.  Cour Damoye contains several adjacent buildings, each designated by its "escalier" (staircase). The apartment is about halfway down the Cour, between Place de la Bastille and Rue Daval, in a building named "Les Amoureux" ("The Lovers"). It is on the third (top) floor and has two skylights. There is no elevator but the stairs are "user friendly" and well-lighted. The street and the building are in a historically protected area, and major renovation work was completed within the last few years.
