The apartment is across the street from the Opéra Bastille, which was designed by the famous architect Carlos Ott and which is characterized by its glass facade and the use of identical materials inside and out. This "new" opera house (built in 1989) stages many of the Paris Opéra's finest operas, while the "old" opera house, the Opéra Garnier (which is a short metro ride away), stages many of the ballets.  Within two minutes of the apartment there is a large music store, two multi-screen movie theaters and lively nightlife in the nearby clubs, including the vibrant Rue de Lappe which is just across the street from the back entrance to Cour Damoye.
